In September 2026, Matson's freight on a car I booked from the mainland to Kahului, Hilo or Nawiliwili was $2,400, the same as August 2026. Coming back to the mainland it was $1,990, the same as August 2026 (over the three months to September 2026, because one month alone was too few bookings).

Bringing one back went from $1,190 to $1,990. As of September 2026, a car I book to a neighbor island costs $820 more to ship than one to Honolulu.
