Military PCS Car Shipping to Hawaii - All Installations, Both Directions
PCS to or from Hawaii requires a coordinator who builds the entire shipping calendar backward from your report date - not the other way around. We have shipped vehicles for service members reporting to and rotating out of every major installation on Oahu (Tripler, Shafter, Wheeler, MCB Hawaii, Camp Smith, JBPHH) and every CONUS origin state. Hawaii is the most logistically complex PCS destination in the military system: one ocean carrier (Matson), one arrival terminal on Oahu (Sand Island), mandatory USDA agricultural inspection, and a sailing cutoff that cannot be missed.
Our military coordinator is Camilo (a PCS-experienced veteran) and his team. He works directly with base housing offices, TMO (Transportation Management Office) contacts, and JPPSO coordinators at the gaining installation to align your vehicle arrival with your in-processing date. The core offer: port-to-port from $1,730 (Honolulu terminal pickup) or door-to-port from $2,530+ (we dispatch a licensed carrier to your CONUS address). $200 deposit for P2P, $600 for D2P. Both are applied to the total - never added on top.
The process in three moves. First, the report date is the anchor: you give us your report date and the gaining installation, and we work backward to pick a Matson sailing that arrives 1-2 days early. Second, mainland pickup is timed to deliver your vehicle to Long Beach or Oakland with a minimum 3-day buffer before the sailing cutoff (no missed sailings in our track record). Third, Honolulu arrival and USDA clearance: your vehicle lands at the Matson auto terminal, clears USDA agricultural inspection in 1 business day, and is available for pickup at 1411 Sand Island Parkway. You receive the booking number, sailing date, arrival ETA, and pickup window before a single carrier is dispatched on the mainland.
We honor SCRA for all active-duty members: if your orders change, are amended, or your report date shifts, we reschedule your Matson booking at no penalty. No rebooking fees, no hostage pricing. The same applies to TMO-arranged shipments (we work with your government shipping coordinator) and to dependents under your PCS entitlement. We have never charged a military customer a fee for a legitimate order change.

Common Questions
Do you specialize in Hawaii military PCS car shipments specifically?
Yes - Hawaii is our single largest category of military moves. The combination of single-carrier (Matson), single-port (Honolulu Sand Island), and mandatory USDA inspection makes Hawaii PCS a specialty that most CONUS-only brokers do not handle. We have coordinated hundreds of Hawaii-bound and Hawaii-originating PCS shipments across every rank and branch.
What is the cost to ship a car to Hawaii for a military PCS?
Port-to-port from $1,730 (you drive to Long Beach or Oakland; we book the Matson sailing). Door-to-port from $2,530+ (we dispatch a licensed carrier to your CONUS address; you arrive on the gaining installation with the car already there). $200 deposit for P2P, $600 for D2P. Both are applied to the total. SCRA protections apply.
How far in advance should I book my Hawaii PCS car shipment?
Minimum 3-4 weeks before your report date, ideally 6-8 weeks. Matson sailings fill up during peak PCS season (May–August), and a missed sailing cutoff means waiting 10-14 days for the next vessel - which can mean reporting without your car. Early booking also lets us align the in-processing date with vehicle arrival.
Can you coordinate directly with my gaining installation's housing office?
Yes. We contact the housing office at Tripler, Fort Shafter, Wheeler AAF, MCB Hawaii (Kaneohe), Camp H.M. Smith, or JB Pearl Harbor-Hickam on your behalf to confirm your in-processing date and align your vehicle release. This is a standard part of our military PCS service at no additional cost.
What if my PCS orders get amended, delayed, or my report date changes?
Contact us immediately. Under SCRA, we reschedule your Matson booking at no penalty. Military order changes are routine (deferred report dates, amended orders, installation changes) and we have handled every scenario. We never charge a rebooking fee for a legitimate order change.
Does the military pay to ship my car, or is it out of pocket?
Both. DITY/PPM provisions and POV shipping benefits vary by rank, dependent status, and orders type. Consult your TMO for your specific entitlement. We work with members using government-arranged shipping, members paying out of pocket, and members combining both (government shipping to CONUS + commercial top-up).
How long does it take for my car to get to Hawaii?
Ocean transit on Matson from Long Beach or Oakland to Honolulu is 12-14 days. Add your overland pickup time (1-10 days depending on your CONUS state and whether you choose P2P or D2P). Plus 1 day for USDA inspection at the Honolulu terminal. We give you the complete timeline at booking with a confirmed sailing date and arrival ETA.
Can my dependents ship a car on my PCS orders?
Yes. Dependents under your PCS entitlement can ship a vehicle using either government-arranged shipping or commercial (we work with both). We coordinate the booking and the documents required for each dependent's vehicle separately and provide individual booking confirmations.
