Your total has two parts. The first is overland pickup and transport to the West Coast port, which varies by location - typically $280 to $450 from Southern California, $600 to $950 from Texas, and $900 to $1,400 from the East Coast. The second is ocean freight: $1,580 to Oahu or $2,400 to Maui, Big Island, or Kauai. We provide both numbers together as one All-Inclusive Price when you call or submit the quote form.

No. Door-to-port includes nationwide pickup at your address. We dispatch a licensed, insured carrier to wherever you are in the continental US. You do not need to arrange any trucking or drive to a port yourself.

Most states route through Long Beach, CA - including all Southern California, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Denver, all Midwest states, all Southern states, and all East Coast states. Northern California, Oregon, and Washington state route through Oakland, CA. We do not use Tacoma.

Total time from pickup to Hawaii port release ranges from 16 to 32 days depending on your pickup location. California pickups typically take 16 to 20 days. East Coast pickups take 25 to 32 days. This includes overland pickup and transport to the port, plus 12 to 14 days of ocean transit to Oahu. Neighbor island destinations add ocean transit days. The $600 deposit is non-refundable once your booking is confirmed. Matson allocates vessel space at the time of booking, and that space cannot be released once reserved. If your plans change, call us as early as possible - we will do our best to move your booking to a later sailing based on availability, though rescheduling is subject to vessel space and is not guaranteed.

No. Personal belongings are not permitted inside the vehicle. Hawaii agricultural inspection and DOT regulations prohibit household goods. The vehicle must remain empty except for factory-installed components. This is enforced at the mainland port terminal before loading.

Yes, through two layers. During the overland portion, the mainland carrier carries up to $100,000 in cargo insurance from pickup through port delivery. During the ocean crossing, Matson's carrier liability covers actual damage up to approximately $8,000 for an average vehicle. You can declare a higher value on the Dock Receipt to increase this limit. We always recommend verifying with your personal auto insurer whether your policy covers ocean transport.

No. Electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids are not accepted on any route we coordinate. This is firm policy with no exceptions and no alternatives through our service.

At least 2 to 3 weeks before your target pickup date. During peak season (May through August), book 4 to 6 weeks in advance. Missing the port cutoff means waiting for the next available sailing - often 2 or more weeks. We coordinate your pickup window to hit the right sailing for your move date.

The vehicle must be fully operational - steering, braking, and rolling 100%. Fuel must not exceed one quarter tank. The vehicle must be empty of all personal items and clean inside and out for Hawaii USDA biosecurity inspection. No windshield chips or cracks. Electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids, and non-running vehicles are not accepted.
