Long Beach is a massive industrial zone. Missing the exit means a 5-mile detour.
From Los Angeles / The North
- Take I-710 South toward Long Beach.
- Take Exit 18 (Sand Island Access Road).
- Turn Left at the light onto Sand Island Access Rd.
- Drive straight for 1.5 miles. You will cross the Bascule Bridge.
- Landmark: Look for the Coast Guard station on your right.
- The Matson Auto Gate is further down on the Right side. Look for "Matson Auto Receiving" signage.
⚠️ LOCAL PRO TIP: The "Lunch Rush" traffic on Sand Island Access Road (Nimitz Hwy intersection) is brutal between 3:30 PM and 5:00 PM. Aim for a morning drop-off/pickup to avoid the gridlock.
